Experience Sacro Cactus: The Activities & Rituals You Can Book in Sardinia
Our Cultural Activities
Choose from the many activities that will make your holiday extra special and memorable.
Sacro Cactus is more than a place to sleep, it’s a quiet, eco-luxury retreat space in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, designed for slow living, wellbeing, and meaningful time in nature. Book the villa with friends, host a retreat, or stay in the private dépendance for a focused reset, then shape your days with experiences that feel rooted in place.
Below is a practical guide to the signature activities you can add to your stay.
The setting (so you can picture your days)..
Mediterranean gardens. Ancient granite stones. A pergola made for long meals and morning movement. An 11m pool with integrated jacuzzi. Quiet nights, stargazing, and a calm, mindful atmosphere.
Craft & culture workshops (hands-on, take something home)
Pottery Workshop
Experience the satisfying pottery craft and take it back with you.
1) Raku pottery workshop (2 days, or 1 day, or Aperi-Raku)
Shape clay with your hands, fire it with flame and smoke, and take home a piece of Sardinia.
This immersive ceramic experience is rooted in Sardinian tradition and Nuragic heritage. You’ll work with earth, water, fire, and air through the Raku firing technique, an ancient method that creates one-of-a-kind pieces through unpredictable flame and smoke.
Inspired by the pintadera (sacred geometric seals used in ritual and daily life), you’ll imprint your ceramic with Sardinian-inspired designs and personal intention. On the second day, gather for the Raku firing: an alchemical transformation where each piece emerges unique, carrying both place and story.
Prefer something shorter?
One-day Raku: create and fire a piece using a natural glaze made from local earth (literal soil from Sardinia).
Aperi-Raku ritual: fire a cup, then drink from it while exploring Nuragic history and ceramic symbolism together.
2) Traditional Sardinian weaving (loom work + meaningful motifs)
Sardinian weaving Workshop
Learn an ancient skill and make a beautiful textile to take back home.
Learn techniques passed down through generations to create what are now considered precious rugs, textiles, pillow cases, and curtains.
You’ll work at a loom and learn the rhythm of the craft: preparing threads, building patterns, and understanding color combinations. Your guide shares the stories behind traditional motifs—symbols of protection, fertility, and family history woven into cloth.
You’ll leave with something you made with real skill: a piece you can keep, use, or treasure.
3) Sardinian basket weaving (Castelsardo technique or Tessitura nuragica)
Sardinian Basket Weaving
Ever wonder how baskets are made?
Choose between two distinct traditions.
Castelsardo technique (from the coastal town): intricate patterns built through careful handwork.
Tessitura nuragica (rooted in ancient Nuragic culture): simpler tools, meditative pace.
You’ll work outdoors under the shade at the villa, learning to select, prepare, and weave plant fibers—plus the stories behind why certain patterns emerged and what they mean.
Food experiences (make it, taste it, understand it)
4) Sardinian pasta workshop (hand-shaped, then eaten at the villa)
Sardinian Pasta Making workshops
Learn to make Sardinian pasta, cook it and enjoy the work of your leabour!
Learn to make Sardinian pasta the way it’s been made for generations, then sit down and eat what you made.
You’ll shape traditional pasta by hand, including rare varieties most visitors never encounter:
Malloreddus
Culurgiones
Lorighittas
You’ll learn the pressure, rhythm, and feel of the dough from someone who knows the craft intimately. Some shapes take patience; all reward attention.
Once shaped, you’ll cook your pasta fresh at the villa and dress it with sauces made from local ingredients: saffron, tomato, cheese, herbs—then taste the difference between handmade and anything else.
5) Slow Food tasting: wines, cheeses, oils, salsiccia (from local producers)
Slow Food Tastings
Taste the quality and the slow living food from our partners at Slow Food
Taste Sardinia through the people who make it.
Sacro Cactus is part of the Slow Food movement, meaning we source from producers who know their craft, their land, and why quality matters.
You’ll taste Vermentino and Cannonau wines alongside:
Pecorino aged in caves
Extra virgin olive oil pressed on the island
Sardinian salsiccia cured by hand
Other seasonal local specialties
A guide walks you through flavors, pairings, and the philosophy behind Slow Food: eating in a way that connects you to place and people.
6) Natural wine tasting + artisanal beer tasting (expert-led)
Natural wine and Artesian Beer Tastings
Into Wine or into Beer? Pick your sin and enjoy the ride..
Two distinct tastings, each led by someone who knows their craft inside out.
Natural wines selected by a high-end sommelier from Costa Smeralda
Artisanal beers guided by an internationally recognized beer judge
Or book both. You’ll sit under the pergola by the pool—garden around you, chilled music, an unhurried pace—while you learn how to taste with intention: why natural wine matters, what makes an artisanal beer stand out, and how technique changes flavor.
Botanical workshops (forage, make, bring it home)
7) Forage Sardinian plants + make natural soap
Soap Making
Learn about our local Plants and then make delicious soap with it!
Start in the garden and wild spaces around Sacro Cactus, foraging native plants used for centuries in Sardinian wellness and cooking.
Myrtle, rosemary, lavender (and other botanicals) reveal themselves through a guide’s knowledge of local ecology and tradition. Back at the villa, you’ll craft natural soap using what you gathered, infusing your bar with scent, intention, and the literal essence of the island.
You’ll leave with a handmade soap and practical knowledge you can use throughout your stay.
8) Forage with a botanist + craft incense or healing oils
Incense and Body oil Making Workshop
Learn from a botanist the secrets to Longevity
Explore the Sardinian landscape with a renowned botanist who knows every plant: its name, its use, its story.
You’ll forage native herbs across the villa’s land, learning to identify and harvest plants used for centuries in Sardinian wellness and ritual. Back at the villa, choose your craft:
Incense / smudge bundles infused with the herbs you gathered, or
Healing oils blended to your needs
You’ll leave with something handmade, rooted in place, and ready to use (or take home).
Private chef experiences (choose your cuisine, your mood, your story)
Private Chefs Experiences
At Sacro Cactus, you choose the approach: from world-class to wildly seasonal.
Chef Giorgio Barone (“The Chef of Champions”)
Giorgio grew up between Rome’s markets and Sardinia’s wild coast, learning Mediterranean secrets from his grandmothers. His personal clients include world-famous athletes.
At the villa, Giorgio and his team can craft traditional Sardinian recipes, creative Mediterranean plates, or international cuisine, each dish tailored to your tastes and made with the best local ingredients.
Chef Veronica (soil-to-table, biodynamic, herbal)
Veronica’s kitchen begins in the soil. After seven years across Spain, Ireland, and Sardinia, she studied organic and biodynamic agriculture to understand food from seed to table.
She cooks with wild herbs, seasonal plants, and Sardinian folk medicine knowledge. Her meals are multi-sensory: textures to touch, aromas to remember, flavors that linger.
